The Stone Desert

Located just 20 km from Varna, the "Pobiti Kamani" phenomenon is the only desert of its kind in Bulgaria and one of the few in Europe. The site features an impressive ensemble of hollow stone columns, up to 7 meters high, which look as if they were driven into the sand. Scientists still debate their origin, ranging from ancient coral reefs to a petrified forest dating back 50 million years. The area is considered a powerful energy zone, with the most famous group of stones known as the "Central Group."
