Pobiti Kamani (The Stone Forest)

Just 20 km from Varna, the natural phenomenon of Pobiti Kamani is the only desert of its kind in Bulgaria and one of very few in Europe. It is a striking group of hollow stone columns up to 7 metres tall, appearing to be driven into the sand. Scientists still debate their origin — from coral reefs to a petrified forest 50 million years old. The site is considered a strong energy zone, and its best-known cluster is called the Central Group.
